Tattoo Pricing and Our $150 Minimum

Every tattoo at Mantle is priced on its own design. Here's what goes into the number, what our $150 shop minimum covers, and how to get an estimate before you commit.

What the $150 minimum covers

Even the smallest tattoo needs a full setup, and that's where most of a minimum goes:

  • Single-use equipment, every time. Needles, ink caps, gloves and barrier film are new for each client and thrown away afterward. No reuse, no shortcuts.
  • A properly prepared station. Every surface is cleaned, disinfected and covered before you sit down.
  • Your artist's time and design work. Sizing, stenciling and placing a tattoo correctly takes time, however small the design.
  • A free touch-up within the first year. If anything heals lighter than intended, we'll fix it at no charge.

We know our minimum can be a little higher than some shops in the area. It reflects the standard of work we put our name on.

What affects the price of a tattoo

Above the minimum, your estimate depends on the design itself:

  • Size. Larger pieces take longer to tattoo.
  • Detail and style. Smooth realism shading or intricate fine line work takes more time than bold, simple linework.
  • Color. Packing and blending color usually adds time compared with black and gray.
  • Placement. Some areas, like ribs, hands, feet and the neck, are slower to work on.
  • Custom design time. A fully custom piece is drawn for you before the appointment.
  • Sessions. Large work such as sleeves is spread over more than one session.

How to get an estimate

Text 323.395.0049 or send an appointment request with a reference image, where on your body you want it, a rough size and whether you want color. We'll reply with an estimate, usually within about 20 minutes while we're open.

Estimates depend on the final artwork, size and placement, so they can change if the design changes. If you have a firm budget, tell us: we can simplify the design or adjust the size to fit it. Not sure what you want yet? A virtual consultation is free.

Deposits

A $100 deposit holds your appointment and goes toward the final cost of your tattoo. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. With at least one full business day's notice, we'll reschedule without asking for a new deposit; cancellations and no-shows may forfeit it. The full details are in our deposit policy.

Paying for your tattoo

We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, Venmo, Zelle, PayPal and Cash App. Tips aren't included in estimates; if you're happy with your tattoo, gratuity for your artist is always appreciated.

Looking for permanent makeup? It's priced separately: most treatments, like brows, lip blush and eyeliner, fall between $300 and $800, including one follow-up session. See permanent cosmetics.
