Script tattoos: what to know
Script tattoos are lettering: names, dates, quotes, lyrics, or words in another language. The lettering style matters as much as the words themselves.
Who it suits
Anyone marking a person, a date or a phrase that matters. Script can stand on its own or be worked into a larger piece with florals or fine line details.
Size and placement
Letters need space to stay readable. Longer quotes work best along the forearm, collarbone, ribs, spine or upper back, where a line can run without crowding. Very small or tightly spaced lettering tends to blur over time, so your artist may suggest a larger size or a simpler font.
Getting it right
Check spelling, dates and translations before your appointment, and bring any handwriting you want copied as a clear photo or scan. You'll approve the stencil before we start. Healing takes two to four weeks; keep it moisturized and out of the sun so the lines stay crisp.
Ready to plan yours? Book a virtual consultation to talk through size and placement, read our guide to script tattoo fonts, and check the aftercare and deposit policy pages before your visit. We’re at 705 S Olive St in Downtown Los Angeles, an easy trip from Glendale and Pasadena. Our shop minimum is $150.
