Our Delicate Work

Delicate tattoos are just what they sound like. Somewhere between minimalist and fine line, delicate tattoos provide sharp lines and light shading to those who enjoy a daintier finish. Delicate tattoos, require mastery of a steady line and a soft touch. Get a better idea by looking at the delicate tattoos completed by our artists at Mantle.

Delicate tattoos: what to know

Delicate tattoos keep the design minimal: a few clean lines, tiny details, and light shading or none at all.

Who it suits

First-timers, people who want something easy to cover for work, and collectors adding small pieces over time: initials, symbols, tiny florals, or matching tattoos with friends and family.

Size and placement

Small doesn't have to mean tiny. Very small text and micro details can blur together as the lines settle, so your artist may suggest a slightly larger size. Inner forearms, ankles, collarbones, ribs and behind the ear are popular; wrists, fingers and feet see more friction and fade sooner.

Healing and aging

Small tattoos usually heal in two to three weeks. With less ink in the skin, aftercare matters: keep it clean, moisturized and out of the sun while it heals, and use SPF once it has.

Ready to plan yours? Book a virtual consultation to talk through size and placement, read our guide to small tattoos, and check the aftercare and deposit policy pages before your visit. We’re at 705 S Olive St in Downtown Los Angeles, an easy trip from Glendale and Pasadena. Our shop minimum is $150.
